Shine and protection for your paint, done in your driveway

When was the last time your car was waxed? If it's been a few months, or a few years, the paint is taking a beating. Run your hand across it after a regular wash. If it feels gritty, that's bonded contamination like rail dust, tree sap, and road film that soap doesn't remove.

A wash and wax fixes that. We wash the car by hand, clay bar the paint to pull out what's stuck in it, then apply a sealant so it's slick, glossy, and protected. It's a great service a couple of times a year, and a smart first step on a newer car.

It also hides light swirls, since the sealant fills them in and makes the paint look deeper. It won't remove them, though. For that you'd want paint correction.

Like everything we do, it's fully mobile. We come to your home or office anywhere around Charlotte.

Our mobile wash and wax process

Each step sets up the next one, so the sealant bonds to truly clean paint.

  1. Wheels and tires first

Brake dust and road grime come off the wheels, tires, and wheel wells before we touch the paint.

  2. Foam and hand wash

A foam pre-soak loosens dirt, then the car is hand washed top to bottom, door jambs included.

  3. Clay bar

The clay pulls bonded contamination out of the paint. You'll feel the difference right away.

  4. Seal the paint

A quality sealant or wax goes on by hand for gloss and a few months of protection.

  5. Dress tires and trim

Tires and plastic trim get dressed so they look dark and new instead of faded.

  6. Glass and final wipe

Outside glass is cleaned streak-free and we go over the whole car one last time.

Wash and wax or ceramic coating?

Both protect your paint. The difference is how long it lasts and how much prep goes in.

Wash and wax

  • Protection that lasts a few months
  • Done in a few hours
  • Lower cost, easy to repeat a couple of times a year
  • Hides light swirls, doesn't remove them

Ceramic coating

  • Protection that lasts years
  • Usually a full day, since the paint gets polished first
  • Higher upfront cost, but no re-waxing
  • Paint is polished before coating, so swirls are reduced, not just hidden

If you want prompt, courteous and phenomenal service this is the business to use. Tilden detailed my car inside and out and it looked as good if not better than the day I drove it off the lot. We were so impressed we had him wash and wax our camper. I can not say enough good things about his work as well as work ethic. You will not be disappointed!!!!! I plan on having Tilden detail my car again in the spring!

Mobile wash and wax questions

How long does the protection last?

Usually a few months. A garaged car keeps it longer, while a car parked outside year-round will be closer to the low end.

How long does a wash and wax take?

Most cars take two to three hours. Bigger trucks and SUVs, or paint with a lot of contamination, can take longer.

Do you use wax or a sealant?

Usually a paint sealant, since it holds up longer than a traditional wax. Either way you get the same slick feel and gloss.

Will this remove scratches or swirls?

No. The sealant fills in very light swirls so they're harder to see, but it doesn't remove them. That's what paint correction is for.

Is this the same as a ceramic coating?

No. A sealant is a short-term layer. A ceramic coating lasts much longer and takes more prep. We can walk you through both.

How often should I get a wash and wax?

Two to three times a year works for most daily drivers. Many people do one in spring after pollen season and one heading into winter.

How do I make it last longer?

Hand wash with a gentle car soap. Dish soap and brush car washes strip the protection off fast.

Do you need water or power?

No. We carry our own water and power, so we can wash your car in a driveway, apartment lot, or office parking lot without a hose or outlet.

Do you come to me?

Yes. We're fully mobile and bring our own water and power, so we come to your home, office, or apartment lot anywhere around Charlotte, Concord, Gastonia, Rock Hill, Huntersville, Kannapolis, Mooresville, Indian Trail, Monroe, Fort Mill, Cornelius, Matthews, and Mint Hill. See all our service areas.

Can I pair this with another service?

Yes, and bundling saves you money. Most people pair it with a Full Interior Detail, but it also goes well with Mini Interior Detail, Premium Wash, Paint Correction, Ceramic Coating, Engine Cleaning, Paint Overspray Removal, and Headlight Restoration. Book two or more services together and we'll take some off the total.
